This might ramble a bit as it’s late (again!) and my brain has turned into something approaching Swiss Cheese.

Another great day’s skiing in Zauchensee today with bright sunshine in the morning despite the forecast of -15. Many people wore an extra layer. And melted.

Group X (where X is a variable from 1 to 3) skied all around the mountain on every different type of terrain but especially the powder field behind the Music Bar. That was completely awesometastic (I insist this is a real word). Really deep and fresh with sparkly bits coming off the trees like a cut scene from Twilight. Even a certain member of staff not known for his love of off-piste thoroughly enjoyed it. Just don’t tell anyone or I’ll have to do more of it next year!

Day 4 and it was Ski Notley’s Fancy Dress Day – which obviously means “chuck down the white stuff” to whoever controls the weather round here. 

Looking out the window this morning was a slightly depressing experience since snow was bucketing down. We had visions of a repeat of last year where Sander the Snow Wizard stood in a howling blizzard conducting the weather whilst three penguins huddled in a group to shelter from the storm.

However how different can two apparently similar days be?

Sorry about the rather late update – it’s been what is euphemistically described as eventful today! (Geek)

Tuesday started promisingly with nice clear skies and the world’s shortest coach journey to…well just around the corner to be honest. We saddled up the groups, hit the Flying Mozart gondola in record time and were some of the first warm bodies on the Wagrain run.

The sun was out this morning as we headed over to Flachau. The beginners went to the top of the Achter Jet and spent about 20 mins recapping what they had done yesterday before skiing down their first blue run. All did really well and there were lots of smiles allround. After a couple of blues they headed to the top of the mountain before skiing down to the mid station several times. After lunch they spent time gaining confidence on more blue runs before getting the gondola down.

Day 1 saw our intrepid bunch of skiers tackling the various ski runs at Zauchensee, each in their own way.

Group 1 (as you would expect) bade everyone goodbye then tore off at lightning speed down the red and black runs pausing only to wonder why the rest of the world was moving so slowly. They ended the day windswept and grinning like Cheshire Cats!

All arrived safe and sound after a LONG journey delayed by many many traffic jams. 

Everyone all kitted out at the best ski fit ever and now tucked up in bed ready for tomorrow on the slopes.

As you may be aware there are a few issues with power at the school at present. If the power goes off for a time, so unfortunately will our website (hopefully not for too long though). So in addition to giving us "Social Media" means to keep you up to date, our Facebook page will serve as a backup information supply in case of temporary outages over the week.

Beautiful sunny day in Flachau today, still fairly cold at -5 so snow conditions awesome.

We are really looking forward to meeting you all at the hotel on Saturday. Hope all the packing is going well. The forecast for next week is Snow over the weekend but brightening up as the week progresses. Still cold so bring lots of layers.

Day 1: Arrival

So we arrive at around 9 am after a 15 hour drive over. As we pull into resort, the sun is shining, very cold at -15 but the snow looks so good that we decide it would rude not to go and have a ski. So we head of for a lift pass at Zauchensee and ski the day! The snow was fantastic!

Just in case you've forgotten, here are the Ferry Groups for the Ski Trip 2013. Please make sure you know exactly which group you are in - you'll be asked it a lot!

We were informed last week that unfortunately we will be unable to use the Jugendhotel Simonyhof for our ski trip this year. 

However we now have the details of our new accomodation and it looks like we're even better off!

Just a quick note - but an important one.

If your child has not yet had any dry slope lessons these need to be booked and taken asap to ensure a good start to the trip and their progress on the first day on the slopes

Dear Parents/Carers

Below are the details for the final itinerary for the forthcoming ski trip to Austria.

It is now only 5 weeks to our annual ski trip to Zauchensee. Final itinerary details will be posted as soon as they have been verified.

If students are beginners and have not yet attended any dry slope lessons now would be a good time to get them sorted. They will make such a difference when out on the snow.

Students need to ensure they have given the following details to Mrs Segura by 16th Jan:

• Height in cms
• Weight in kgs
• Shoe size
• Name for back of hoody
• Size of hoody

Students also need to hand EHIC cards into the Finance Office by 9th Feb. Please check they are in date!

Students should keep an eye on their school emails and this website for details of other meetings to be held at school over the next few weeks.

Dear Parents/Carers

After another good ski season it is time to start organising next year’s ski trip.  The trip will return to the resort of Zauchensee/Flachau in Austria and we will be travelling with ‘The Austrian Experience’.  The trip will run during February half term, 15 – 23 February 2013. The trip will be open to all years and we have a limit on numbers; because we are expecting a large response there will undoubtedly be a reserve list.  Should you find yourself on this list don’t despair as we generally have some people that drop out over the year.  If on the reserve list, your return slip will be kept but your deposit returned.
